this series of images was created using a large format camera and 4×5 color negatives. i attached one of my eyeglass lenses to the lens of the camera and shot photographs of areas of my house that i encounter every day, with and without my glasses on. while exaggerated, these images display how transformative the use of eyeglasses can become when manipulated.
Rachel Verhaaren is a photographer originally from Long Island, New York. She now resides in Baltimore where she attends the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her recent work analyzes human and mechanical optical perception.
